stop talking about it - it doesn't matter to anyon

by: spring recruiting

Some great houses (top houses) recruit in the spring some years. Some great houses (lower houses) don't recruit some years. IT DOESN'T MATTER unless they're doing it because of a high dropout rate. A high early graduation rate, a high OU HSC nursing, P/T rate, a high study abroad rate, etc. are all good reasons that a house might be forced by nationals to recruit. No one wants to because it's a hassle, but sometimes you gotta do it because your nationals requires you to if recruiting is available and you're eligible. So please stop plastering this site with spring recruiting comments. It only matters to you. No one else on here is interested.

I find it sad that people are so consumed with themselves and their image that they would put down a process that allows others to join a sisterhood.

else would it be but a chi o? They're the only house that doesn't do spring recruiting that is really bad. None of the good houses need to make an issue of it. And the person above me is correct. It's a process that allows others to join a sisterhood. Stop creating drama Chi O.

If you want this to go away quit pointing fingers. You will provide fuel to the fire and this will go on forever. Comment in the behavior just don't mention any house.

Spring recruitment does not occur like YOU keep trying to spin it. The only houses on a campus and let me be clear ON ANY CAMPUS that can spring recruit is houses not at house total. A campus can raise house total OR all the houses on a campus can be under house total but otherwise no houses on campus at house ltotal may participate. This is decided by National Panhellenic that actually has a representative from each of the 26 Panhellenic sororities. It is the governing body of the entire Panhellenic. They govern every campus in the US. Once a house total is set on a campus any house not at house total can spring recruit. The national sorority then has their individual sorority spring recruit. The national sorority will have the houses not at the campus house total spring recruit for ONE reason. The reason is the individual sorority's national office doesn't want their campus chapter's numbers to drop dangerously lower than the member numbers of the houses at total on the campus because the lower their sorority numbers drop the harder it is to build them back up because a house at total can go over house total only during formal recruitment because the houses at total are allowed to take quota every year. Houses that recruit well AKA the " top houses" therefore remain above total. They seem to keep getting larger and larger so the houses below total are given the opportunity to increase their numbers during the spring to keep their numbers in hopefully a competitive range.

The only time top houses spring recruit is if Panhellenic is raising house totals across the board. They still don't have to but usually use it as a tool to snag their universities Pom and cheer girls. Top houses generally stay well above total because they are allowed to exceed house total every yr during fall recruitment because they are allowed to take quota no matter how much that puts them over house total. Good houses can withstand transfers, nursing school etc because they stay above house total. Spring recruitment is in place to let houses not at total spring recruit. Generally speaking it's a second chance to get their numbers up and not continue to fall further behind the top houses during regular fall recruitment.
