Does it even matter

Does it even matter what frat or sorority you join? How judgmental are people at UF?

Your goal is to find a srat/frat that is full of like-minded people with your values...this will not always be the same as what some will tell you is "best". Best means what THEY think is best and may not always be what is best for you. You have to decide if you want to spend 4 years with people you like being around that love and support you, or whether you want to spend 4 years trying to please someone else, some unknown person, who cares nothing about you personally.

Are people at UF judgmental? This site certainly is...but I would say the users on here, which aren't alway in greek life (trolls), represent about .01% of greek life. So as long as you aren't trying to impress the anonymous people on here which is impossible (they will bash you no matter what house you are in for different reasons) you'll be fine. Just surround yourself with people most like you and with the same goals and values and dont worry about anyone else..it's not about them.

The best advice I can give is to ignore all the "noise" and find the people that make you feel at home...don't chase or ignore a set of letters based on someone else's opinion...don't spend 4 years trying to be someone you're not, you'll want to drop in a year when you don't fit in. If you're in it for the right reasons, you'll find your sisters. Next best piece of advice - stay of this site. It's not a source of any redeemable advice.

All the sororities have vibe. Guys will especially comment if you say you are in a certain one. Some nice some not so nice. So yeah there is judgement. Going thru rush you will be surprised and your mind will change if you just base it on tiers. Some top aren’t all that and some lower tier have the sweetest girls. So be open minded and go where you feel you can be yourself. Usually freshman judge bc they don’t know but as years go by you will friend people in other frats and sororities and it won’t matter.

All top tier means is popularity or the houses that are most desired by people rushing. That does not necessarily mean that they are the best for you.

Look carefully at who is rushing with you and who will likely accept a bid at houses you are considering, because this will be your new member class and will make or break your Greek experience, not so much the older members who are rushing you and not any so-called tiers.

Only freshmen really care about letters and putting people into tiers anyway; it's very much a hangover from the typical high school mentality (especially the freshie frat boys who seem to view sororities as their dating service and don't seem to get that sororities actually exist for their own members).

As you get older you start to see individuals more than letters and don't need tiers and ranks for your own validation. You hang out with who you like, date who you want, and have a friend group of multiple different houses in addition to the friend group you have in your own house.

If you join a frat or srat and end up with a handful of your best, best friends, then you have succeeded.
