Chi O is very Mississippi. They are very centered around everything happening here and if you aren't from close by, you might have a hard time fitting in. I know girls who hate Chi O but refuse to drop, for fear of being a GDI, and those who got so fed up with it they actually did drop. However, there are girls who love it too, but they're typically from Jackson/Memphis or have just adapted extremely well. KKG is much more welcoming. most of their out-of-state girls are from Texas but they have at least a few from everywhere else. There are definitely some Missouri and Illinois girls there. I think that would be more comfortable for you than Chi O. They're known as the party girl sorority and that isn't for everyone, but it's still an awesome house. I would also look at Phi Mu, AOPi, and Pi Phi. All have a pretty big number of out-of-state girls and are very good sororities.
