Inexpensive activities For Your weekend

Low On Cash

Most college students find themselves low on cash, especially in this first part of the semester after we pour out bank accounts into the bookstore. But that doesn’t mean we can’t go out and have some fun. Here are some inexpensive activities to enjoy without emptying your wallet.

Geocache
Geocache is a fun app that leads you on an old-fashioned treasure hunt for hidden boxes around your community. It’s completely free to join; just follow the map and discover hidden treasures. Take a prize from the box and leave a trinket of your own for the next person to find. Drive from one geocache to another or walk for a little extra exercise and enjoy spending some time in your community.

Year Round Secret Santa
This is a great game that only cost up to ten dollars and will entertain you and your friends for hours. Go with a group of friends and break into groups of two. Everyone puts their names in a hat and just like secret Santa, you draw a person to shop for. With a limit of ten dollars to spend and only two hours to shop, you and your partner have to find gifts for the names you have drawn. It sounds simple, but with today’s prices, finding a decent gift with only ten dollars proves to be very difficult. Make it extra hard by going to a mall you are unfamiliar with or shortening the time limit.

Backyard Camping
Did you ever camp outback as a kid? I certainly did and it is even more fun as a college student. Invite over some friends and pitch the tents. We don’t all have the time off with busy school schedules to go out into the woods for a camping trip, but surely there’s a backyard we can use. Enjoy a mini vacation while roasting marshmallows over the grill and sleeping out under the stars.

Kool-Aid T-shirts
Is tie dye back in style yet? Here’s a simple activity that’s super creative and fun. Mixing two packets of Kool-Aid with a cup of vinegar to make inexpensive dye. With some old t-shirts or new one from a cheap store like Walmart (seriously, they only cost a couple of dollars) you can have a brand new tie dye shirt of your own creation. Make sure not to get the dye on your good clothes and wait twenty-four hours before washing your new shirt. For a full tutorial, click here..
