Midterms are finished, and we are only a few weeks away from the end of the semester. Unfortunately, this is when many college students stop trying as hard as they did in the beginning. With finals approaching, this is the time to regain that motivation and power through the end. Here are a few tips to help you:
Sleep
Spend some time in the library
Or somewhere else that’s quiet and free from distractions. Studying or doing homework in a distracting place will cause your study to time to take longer than it should, and you might not remember what you’ve learned. Studying in a quiet place will ensure that you’re not just wasting your time.
Schedule Plan out your day. Designate certain times for studying, homework, sleeping, and having fun. Stick to the schedule! By allotting a certain amount of time for studying and homework, you can avoid the feeling of “I’m going to be doing homework forever!” By scheduling your TV time, video game time, or whatever you do to have fun after studying, you’ll be giving yourself something to look forward to.
Relax
Make time for yourself. Take some time to relax, destress, and remember why you’re going to college. Overworking yourself won’t fix anything. Pick a day (Saturday or Sunday would work best) and devote it to you. Don’t do homework, don’t study, don’t do anything school related. Hang out with friends, read a book, explore your neighborhood, do anything you want. This should be a day to relax and clear your head.
Don’t give up You’ve come this far in the semester, don’t throw all your hard work away. These last few weeks can seem tough, especially with finals, but don’t let them scare you. Start studying now so you can avoid last-minute cramming. Finals, while they are the end of the semester, they aren’t the end of the world. It’s just another test. Don’t stress about it too much, but don’t give up on it either. Finding the balance between working hard and relaxing is hard, but doing it will ensure that you will end the semester strong.
