Finals are over and it's time to head back home for some holiday cheer. You get a long break to try to regress back into your old childhood self. But like it or not, maybe the beloved holiday is not quite the same as it was when you were a kid.
Travel
Home for the holidays isn't as easy as waking up on Christmas morning. Depending upon how far away your university is from home, it could be hours or even days of a trek back to Mom's home cooking.
Your wish list is much smaller and simpler
Growing up and living the life of a broke college student makes you relish the little things. What do I want for Christmas? I don't know maybe some sleep...socks would be nice too.
You begin to realize just how quirky your own family might be
Some distance from the people you grew up with, and having your eyes opened through the people you've met at college makes you look at your kin with a new set of eyes.
You appreciate your loved ones even more
Time away makes you all that more appreciative of your roots. Crazy as they may be, there's no replacing family.
Giving becomes a greater priority
Okay sure, maybe you can't afford to buy your Mom and Dad the private island they deserve. But as a quasi-adult, you're able to at least surprise them with that book or movie or what not that they've been hinting at, and it feels pretty good to be able to give it to them.
In any case, Happy Holidays from all of us at GreekRank.com!
