Home for the summer? Great news! When compared to your college roommates, your parents make great roommates. You might not realize it until you go away to college and experience what it is like to live with someone other than Mom and Dad, but living at home for the summer has its perks. Here are 10 reasons why parents make better roommates than your college ones.

They clean up after themselves. If you have a messy college roommate this one will really resonate with you.

They clean up after you. Yep, that’s right. They don’t only pick up after themselves, but they will clean up after you as well. You are definitely not living with that luxury back at school.
They pay all the rent and bills. While at school you often forget just how good it is to live for free.
They share their food. Maybe every once in a while your college roommate shares their food with you. Your parents do that all day every day.
They spoil you. This is something your college roommate is never going to do.
They are interested in everything you have to say. Your parents haven’t seen you in so long. Everything you say fascinates them.
They allow you to yourself. No use in pretending to be anyone but yourself when at home with Mom and Dad. They’ve known you since before you cared what anyone else thought of you. They don’t try to compete with you. Parents are on a different stage in their life. Their goals are very different than your goals. You are all on the same team.
Always down to hang out. They already feel like they lost you to the big world. Summer break is their brief opportunity to get insight into the adult you are becoming.
You trust their significant other. This is true only if your parents aren’t remarried. Unlike college roommates who might bring home some sketchy characters, your mom’s significant other is your dad and vice versa. They are literally the two people you trust most in this world.
