With the 2016 Rio Olympics about to start soon, we thought you’d enjoy a ranking of the sororities with the most all-time Olympians. These are strong women who make their sisters proud and continue to inspire. Included in the rankings are the sororities of the National Panhellenic Conference and the Divine 9.

Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, and Zeta Phi Beta each have 2 Olympians. Alpha Epsilon Phi and Gamma Phi Beta have one each. Now here’s the rankings of those sororities that have 3 or more.

Sigma Gamma Rho

Sigma Gamma Rho has 3 Olympians. Maritza Correia is a 2004 silver medalist in the 400FR and is the first African American Female to make the US Olympic Swim team.

Delta Sigma Theta Delta Sigma Theta has 4 Olympic athletes. During the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Wilma Rudolph became the first American woman to win three gold medals in track and field during a single Olympic Games.

Kappa Kappa Gamma The Kappas also have 4 Olympians. Something for them to brag about, although, is that all 4 of these women are gold medalists. Between these women Kappa can claim a whopping 9 gold medals. Kelley O'Hara, a Stanford Cardinal, was part of the 2012 gold medal USA women’s soccer team.

Delta Delta Delta With 5 total Olympians, the Tri Delts are tied for the second most of any sorority. The women of Delta Delta Delta had a strong showing in the 2012 Summer and 2014 Winter Olympics with all 5 of their Olympians competing. Most notable of these sisters might be University of Michigan Chapter’s Meryl Davis who was a fan favorite in 2014 and winner of Dancing with the Stars.

Alpha Kappa Alpha With 5 total Olympians, AKA has nurtured some truly noteworthy athletes. 3 of the 5 Olympians have competed in the last 4 games.  Tonique Williams-Darling, of the University of South Carolina chapter, won a gold medal in the 400 meter track event at the 2004 games in Athens.

Kappa Alpha Theta With 7 total Olympians, the Thetas have the most Olympians. Kerri Allyson Strug (pictured above) was a member of the Magnificent Seven, the victorious all-around women's gymnastics team that represented the United States at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.  She competed in the vault despite having injured her ankle and was later carried to the podium by her coach.
