fraternity initiation

Can fraternity “fake” an initiation of a pledge so they don’t have to have him as a member later on? Just hear rumors that this is occurring in our frat system.

How can they fake initiate a person? If you are pinned with an active pin and you sign your name, they’ve accepted you and you have met the requirements to be an active. If they did this but they say you’re not an active, then they’ve reneged on their end. I’ve never heard of this but nothing surprises me anymore.

So someone says another is initiated, does through the ritual, then says it was a joke, you’re not really initiated? Which group?
