It's probably better to rush spring semester of your freshman year than the fall of your sophomore year, recommendation letters are always recommended but never required, sign up asap so you don't forget and miss the deadline, and a minimum 3.0 college GPA is what's recommended

Fall is always better. It's the only way you can see every house and make an informed decision. You can sign up for spring, but the system is rigged and you probably will only get invited to a house where you already know someone. Not a good system.

The best houses rarely do informal. It depends on your standards, but I would only do fall recruitment.

I thought spring informal had more options so you had a better chance? I have friends in sorority but none that typically do informal and I’m worried that I won’t hear anything because 8i don’t have a friend.

A better chance at a lousy house? Give me formal rush any day.
