sophomores rushing

by: sororitybound

I'll be a sophomore in the fall and I plan on rushing. Does that give me an upper hand or help me get into a good house?

going to hurt you. Sororities are pretty strict on taking sophomores.

the only way it will help you is if you know girls in houses well

And you have to know them really well, as in you hang out with them every weekend. Also know that if it comes between you and a freshman who is equal to you, you'll be cut first.

It's not impossible, but you need to start connecting with girls in sororities now if you haven't already. I'm sure DG, Gphi, Theta and maybe a few others will take you to keep up numbers.

Houses take sophomores. But the expectations are higher for you. Higher grades, better looks, better connections, etc. if you think you have the qualifications then go for it!

So the houses look at how pretty you are instead of how involved you have been or amount of community service you do - things that actually matter. Also u are going to judge a girl who graduated from an easy high school vs a girl who has completed a semester or more of college, where workload is harder? Lol you people are a joke. Punishing an older girl due only because of her age? Thats discrimination! These sororities need some alumni advisors to manage these shallow arrogant girls.

Each sorority has a preset number of upperclassmen the are going to bid. You must be the cream of the crop, because that number is very low. Sororities are looking for four year dues paying members. You have to be really worth it.

what about someone with really good grades, good recs, involved, and decent looks?

On how many spaces they have. There are so many spectacular girls going through who also have great grades, involvement, good recs, and good looks. You won't know until you try, but no one can promise you a bid. Your sophomore status will not be an advantage, but it doesn't automatically knock you out.

There's an alternate quota of 10 upper classman per house. It depends on how many sophomores are going through recruitment. I'd say you have an equal chance. To the person who said that they will cut u over a freshman is not true because you are part of a seperate number of girls.
