Where do top girls from Birmingham, Montgomery, Huntsville, tuscaloosa and mobile tend to pledge?

Bham meant to include Non MB.

Who seems to get the top OOS pnms overall? How do the find them.

Sorry so many questions

I'm a PNM from a top over the mountain school in bham. From my school most girls go Alpha Chi, Alpha Gam, and Chi O. Usually one in each other old row. Alpha Gam rushes girls HARD . As for New Row there is usually one in Zeta and one in Pi Phi (usually girls who want to branch out)

Very common OTM result. Aoii can pull a few of the girls next door that fly below the radar. Too.

Tridelt, kappa and KD just don't go after the OTM girls other than mb. There is a trussville thing going on in axo for some reason but that is not OTM.

I'm also from otm and Tri delt is rushing a few girls from my school that isn't mb!! First time in a while they've actually reached out. Also I think Phi Mu might get some of the good ones along with a alpha chi

Yea I have notice tridelt and pm upping the prerush efforts in OTM this year. They are primed to make inroads at agd and chio expense. Axo will do like usual

How do you "rush girls HARD?" Give me an example, please? Other than talking to someone, I have no idea how you'd do that.

Rushing somebody hard like referenced in the comments on this thread would be commenting on insta, texting and snapping with them because you know them already, reaching out through contacts, and all sorts of things all to express interest and to get to know her and help her see your house in a positive light and to see that your house has interest. It is all before the no-contact rule, of course, except those with the friends and family relationship keep it up (but toned down) during the summer.

Mobile still stuck on KD and kappa, but they suck anyway.

Bottom line: it is so much harder to be a pnm from Alabama than a OOS pnm

Like sooooo much harder. Seriously. It's the expectations/rejection thing.

As an OOS Southern PNM, this is really an interesting read. I hadn't realized that some high schools were "strongholds" for certain sororities. Girls from my hometown go everywhere but they're really concentrated among Kappa, AXO, and DDD from old row. Is that a conscious recruiting effort from those 3 houses for my area, or was it just coincidence? I've gotten contact from those houses, but I've also got some from other houses as well, so I can't tell if they're actually "interested" in me or just checking me out. Thoughts?

Okay so I'm from either KKG, AXO, or DDD. In my opinion if girls have reached out to you and you don't know them they probably found you on social media (facebook class of 2021 is a big resource) or someone that has a mutual friend told us about you so thats why we are interested. I have never once heard in my house during rush "OMG she's from ______ area!!! We like that area so lets take her based on her zip code/high school!". If a house take you they are typically genuinely interested din you. Why would we want to fill our house with a bunch of girls from good school, but don't actually click or fit in?

I think it's just the fact that people tend to go to people they already know. As an active, you're encouraged to turn in lists of girls you know from your hometown ae are potential PNMs for next year. Of course you're going to list people you know.

Most of these posts have been mentioning where "top" girls go from different places... What about girls who aren't "top"?? Obviously not everyone from in-state could be in the cool crowd in high school even if they did have a good resume, recs, etc. Does that impact where PNMs will go? Do you have to be popular in HS to do well in recruitment?

To go old row you needed to be popular or super involved in hs.

Thanks for replying, I sorta figured. I was involved in HS and near the top of my class but never really meshed with the 'in' crowd. Just wondering what to expect I guess.

Please can someone tell me what OTM is?

By: newbie here
by: otmJul 31, 2017 4:46:08 PM

It was mentioned in the replies to post #1 but it stands for "over the mountain" and refers to the affluent suburbs directly south of Birmingham, starting with Mountain Brook and going until you get around the Pelham area.

Sad that people don't want to expand their horizons that's what college is all about

Look for the OTM girls to be breaking into smaller groups and no one HS gang will end up in any single place. Nobody has that kind of pipeline into those schools anymore.

Lots of in-state pnms want to branch out too but they are influenced by having more knowledge of who is already in the different houses and how they like those actives and they are also influenced by where their friends are going and where their older friends are already sisters. It's natural.
