what does it mean when a mixer is called

ok this might sound so stupid but i still don't know what it means when the mixer gets "called". like when someone says they "are calling the mixer" or "the mixer is called" tf does that mean

probably either means the event is over or they are opening up the event to non-members

it can also mean that now sobers are allowed to drink
