do sororities honor legacies?

by: legacy

Does being a legacy help at all when rushing? Is it better to be a legacy through your mom rather than sibling?

It doesn't help much at all and one isn't better than the other. A chapter would only really care if your sister was a member of that chapter, but legacy is just a footnote mostly. Most nationals have eliminated legacy preference anyway.

I agree with the comment above but would add:

ADPi has a good reputation for honoring legacies at most schools. At UGA, though, I'm not sure if it's an advantage unless you're a legacy of this chapter.

Also, the following NPC sororities have dropped special consideration for legacies at the national level:

AXO
AOII
APhi
DDD
DG
GPhi
Theta
KD
Phi Mu
Pi Phi
SK
ZTA

I rushed my freshman year. I had legacy but was out of state and really didn’t know anyone at all. I ended up dropping and rushing again as a sophomore. I can tell you legacy does not matter. If you don’t know people in the sororities or are out of state it might be disappointing for you.
