selections
by: 2019Can someone explain the selection process? For example, let's say you were to visit 6 houses on leadership day. Afterwards, do you rank all the houses you visited from 1-6 or do you only pick 3? If you got cut by any of the 3 you originally picked would it roll down to your 4th-6th picks (if those houses asked you back)?

Okay so we have 12 sororities and four rounds.
Round one is split into two days and at the end of the second day you will rank the houses and "drop" 3. Here the nine sororities above the last three, do not have to be in a specific order.
At the beginning of round 2 (day 3) you will receive a schedule and you can visit up to 9 sororities this day. At the end of the day you will rank the houses and drop another 3 houses.
You will receive a schedule are the beginning of round 3 (day 4) and on this day you can visit up to 6 chapters. At the end of the day you will rank again and drop 3 chapters.
At the beginning of round 4 (day 5) you will receive a schedule and you can visit up to 3 chapters. At the end you will rank again and this time the order that you place your choices WILL matter.
So with all that said let me explain a couple of things when I say you will "drop" x number of houses, I don't mean that they will be gone. (lets use round one for example) If a house that was on your top 9 drops you then you will get one of the houses you put on your bottom 3 back. If the houses that you dropped drop you then you won't get them back.
Also, it is VERY common to not visit the maximum number of houses (so on round two you may visit 8 houses instead of 9) and that is OKAY! That just makes it easier for you to narrow your choices down and instead of having to drop 3 houses on the next round, you now only have to drop two.
Its a multutal process where both opinions (of PNM and..

Please keep in mind that you are not "dropping" houses. You are listing the houses you most prefer to return to, then listing the ones you least prefer to return to in order. If you are not high enough on a sorority's list, whether they are one of your favored ones or not, you won't be coming back. Although PH loves to call it mutual selection, it really isn't. At the end of the day, the sororities are really doing the choosing and dropping because they're in charge of their invite list.

Someone once gave me the advice to treat your invite list each day as if those are the only sororities at TCU... because for you, they now are. No sorority will ever return to an invite list once it drops off, so the best mindset is to treat each day's list as if you are beginning recruitment and those are the only chapters on campus. Choose from those and forget the rest exist.
Disappointment is real, and we aren't trying to minimize that feeling. However, the girls with the best recruitments are those who pick themselves up quickly and have a positive outlook no matter what comes their way. Plus, chapters are looking for future friends/happy PMNs. Not mopey people who are in a pity party.

... chapters matter.) I know it seems a little confusing, I tried to explain it the best that I could, but I understand if someone is still confused. However, when you are going through recruitment you will have all of this explained to you and your rho gammas will be there to help you with any questions along the way.
Also, the order that you rank your houses that you "drop" matters EVERY DAY.
So on round one, your 1-9 do not have to be in a specific order but your 10-12 have to be in order of preference. Sometimes you may get your number 10 back if one of your "1-9" dropped you.
When I went through recruitment, I ranked my houses and I had a really hard time deciding whether to drop house "A" or "B". I dropped house "A" and after thinking about it I realized I made the wrong choice and should have dropped house "B" instead. When I saw my schedule the next day I saw that house "B" had dropped me and I actually got house "A" back so i was so relieved!!
Please ask any questions. Sorry this is all over the place
