Me too and we certainly need the house. Yes, one more year before Phi Mu comes-fall 2016. There may be opportunities to help prepare this year. You might contact their national office if someone has an interest.

None at this point. Phi Mu and AOPi were the ones picked during the last long process. That process would need to start again once Phi Mu got established so there won't be one any time soon like while any of us are still here.

Do not expect a house other than Phi Mu to arrive during your time here. When you think that we only have 14 now and the tens of decades TCU has been here that AOPI is only 3 or 4 years old when they are going to add Phi Mu is uncommon and shows how fast TCU is growing.

You need to give a chapter several years (at least) to establish themselves before you bring in another group. Phi Mu will be that group for the foreseeable future.

Phi Mu is the only sorority colonizing at TCU within the time we will be here and beyond.

Delta Zeta had their chance back when GPhiB came here but TCU voted them down and picked GPhiB. DZ is a weak national sorority so it isn't hard to see why they were voted down and GPhiB, AOPi and Phi Mu were chosen over them.

Kappa Delta isn't much better but at least they are strong in the south. KD was here until the early 90s and they got closed down for lack of members. Their Texas chapters that haven't closed yet are bottom everywhere. I don't know why they would want to come back.

Jeesh...the girl was just asking a question. Your answer was very unpanhellenic. I have several friends that are KDs and DZs at other Texas schools and they are awesome chapters. You might want to check your facts and grab some class while your at it.

I'm sorry for your friends, but KD is at the bottom at every Texas school. They have had 14 chapters in Texas but only five remain, and two of those were recolonized closed chapters. So basically 11/14 of their Texas chapters have been closed at some point.

DZ is only good at Texas State (not hard to do) but they are a national joke and a wreck in the rest of Texas. The only decent Greek school they are at is A&M where they are at the bottom. TCU literally told them to go away when they wanted to come here.

I think this is interesting history. I'd always been told there was a tier order to national groups that might be very different than what you have at your school or in the area. I know KD is really big in Alabama but I don't know anyone who went them anywhere else.

I guess it goes to show you you should go where you truly belong and not worry about your legacy because it might be totally different.

Kappa Delta and Delta Zeta are top houses at LSU. Both very good at UVA too. I would never think of either one of those as weak National sororities.

With 12, soon to be 13, of the 26 NPC groups here who would you suggest over KD or DZ? If "strong nationally" = money to start a group, and large enough to have a DFW alumnae base to support it, then those are likely the next two in terms of strength along with Alpha Phi. We are at the point to where all the strong groups in Texas are already at TCU. If it is so easy for you to be critical of the remaining sororities then please provide a viable solution of who to invite next.

Kappa Delta, Alpha Phi and Alpha Gamma Delta all had chapters at TCU that have closed. I think it would be great to eventually get all of them back at TCU.

Thank you for actually making sense. The Greek System here is taking off and will only continue to grow. I do believe that we should invite the sororities that were here before to come back....i.e. Kappa Delta, Alpha Gamma Delta and Alpha Phi. I do realize that Alpha Phi tends to struggle here in the South, but if they want to come back, I think we have enough interested candidates.

Just so we are clear...EVERY Sorority is good and has great members. I do know several KD and DZs and they are amazing people. "?" and "she's right though" are probably the same person, and that person is just rude.

I know more than one girl that is a DZ at UT- Dallas, and they are really awesome girls.
I know several KDs at various schools and they are awesome too.

The Huff Post ratings are based on nonsense if you actually read the criteria they use. Facebook and twitter followers? Lolz

The criteria that really measure sorority rank are number of members, number of chapters, number of closed chapters, foundation size, alumnae involvement, age, types of schools they are established, history, national versus regional strength etc.

ONE of the criteria they use was social media. They did use foundation size, alumni, etc. social media was the smallest part of the study. And as someone who knows a lot about sororities I can tell you that they were pretty spot on.

Whatever the criteria, every sorority is excellent and deserves respect.
But , those two sororities you talked smack about, are actually pretty darn good.

Did you really just cite HuffPost as your source for rankings? Do you use them for your research papers too?

There have been several publications attempt to rank sororities and fraternities at a national level. It's sort of like all those "Best Places to Live" or "Best Colleges." Every publication uses different criteria, and winds up with a vastly different order. Even when my group is listed at or near the top I am still skeptical of the results because of the criteria used for their findings. Also, each reader will put a different value on the various criteria that is used. Some readers think best = biggest alumnae best. Others will argue that a large alumnae base, gained primarily through very small schools without large state school or any prominent schools, isn't impressive. Donations to philanthropy are also hard to track. Unless the money is donated to a HQ, and then funneled out to the charities, it is likely not counted in these rankings. If a HQ encourages all their chapters to give locally then no philanthropy dollars are counted for the rankings. See the flaw?

Greekrank may be more reliable than these silly national rankings!
That is why PNMs are told to just go through recruitment and find the chapter/sisters that are the best fit for them.

Look, I really disagree with the poster who knocked KD and DZ, but posting an arbitrary list doesn't really help the matter either.

Let me start by saying I'm not any of the posters above. And I too agree that the person who slammed those two sororities was way off base, and it makes our school look really bad.
I would like to address the idea of posting random lists. I agree with "really?" that the lists are flawed. But for better or for worse, people rely on ridiculous lists. When people say "Harvard is one of the best schools" They probably got the information from urban folklore and they also probably got the information from Newsweek's list or US&World Report's list. Many univiversitites spend loads of PR money getting their names on those lists. When people say "TCU is really good for graphic design" I cringe because I know they have gotten that from some ridiculous list that TCU paid to get their name on. The reality is that these lists are ridiculous but our society sadly does place value on them. Houses sell for more money because the local public schools are "ranked" better. Stupid to do so, but they do. So when someone attacked sororities that she had family members in, I don't blame her for pulling out those lists.

I had never seen this before and found if informative. I suspect a national publication can manage to be as reliable than things on here. True, chapters vary a lot from campus to campus but this is still interesting.

I think Huffington Post is a descent source and found the list interesting.
