rec forms
by: NewbieHi guys! I will be attending TCU in the fall, and I hope to pledge a sorority. I am not from Texas, and no one in my family was in a sorority. I do have family in Texas, though, so I've been able to find a couple family friends who agreed to help out and write me letters/fill out forms/whatever. I talked to a friend recently who was in a sorority and said I might need RIF forms for each sorority and letters of support to go with them. Are these mandatory? What if I don't have the connections to get one from every house? Do I also have to send pictures, transcripts, and resumes? Any info would be greatly appreciated, I am very nervous to go through rush and I feel very unprepared. Thanks!

Check out the Greek Life website for TCU for exactly what you need. The short answer is that yes REC letters are mandatory with such high competition. Also a solid resume a several natural and classic head shots are required. All of these things help introduce you to the houses before you arrive and with around 1000 girls it's important. Reach out to teachers, coaches, your parents friends and your local alumni associations for help getting folks lined up for REC letters. It can take some extra effort but will pay off in the end. Goid luck!!

If you follow these steps you can get the connections you need. No, about the people having to be from Texas. Half of our student population is from out of state. The RECS need to come from people who know you if possible. That is way more important than the writers location. At least that is my opinion.
