are the sororities competitive here?

I’m going to be a freshman at UMN next year and I want to join a sorority. I wanted to know if getting into a sorority here is competitive. I don’t really care about being in a “top tier”, I’m more interested in something in the middle.

Not really, lots of people drop - retention is an issue.

If you stick with recruitment there will be a house for you! It is incredibly rare for a PNM to not get a bid from any house. If someone goes through rush and doesn't join a chapter it is most likely because she decided to drop or didn't accept her bid. Don't worry about it.

There really aren’t tiers here, every house has something to offer and there really isn’t a bad house on this campus. Go into recruitment with an open mind and you will wind up somewhere that fits you best.
