Chi o extends more bids to legacies than any other chapter, but there are no giarantees!

Just having legacy status gets you nothing more than an invitation to the first invitational round, as a courtesy. It will help a lot if your grades are 3.5+ AND great extracurricular activities AND stellar recs, or if your mom has been hugely active as an alum for many years. Keep your options open to all of the chapters.

I wouldn't put all my eggs in the legacy basket quite yet. Chi o does extend a lot of courtesy bids to legacies, but that doesn't mean those legacies are happy or even fit in with the rest if their pledge class. Honestly, a girl would probably be much happier in a lower tiered house with girls she enjoyed being around than stuck in a house because she was a legacy.

No it doesn't guarantee you a bid. As previous posters stated, if you possess all the other qualities (grades, activities etc), it helps. But remember that all the chapters have tremendous numbers of legacies, many are in house legacies, and that they are looking for girls that will fit with the girls in their chapter. I was an in house legacy when I went through recruitment and I really didn't feel a connection at that house and I didn't think I was a good fit there either. I chose to go with a different house and have never regretted it. Personally I wanted to be where I knew I was really wanted and not be known as someone they had to take because I was a legacy. Please go into recruitment with an open mind and make the right choice for you.

There is never automatic anything for anyone during Ole Miss rush. BTW, for all you Tri delt legs, their nationals allows the to cut at ANY point, and you aren't automatically on the top of their bid list for pref, unless the chapter decides to put you there. Their nationals don't have any mandatory rules or invites, and this policy can easily be found online! Good luck ladies, this is why you need to keep an open mind!
