ole miss rush

by: Scaredforrush

I'm coming from out of state and know practically no one. I'm a fairly pretty girl but need to lose like 10 pounds. I got great rec letters but I'm a legacy for alpha chi, which isn't at ole miss. I'm so worried because I don't know anyone that I'll just fall through the cracks and not get a bid.

Go out to frat parties/the square whatever and meet actives there, or try to meet actives through your roommates/hallmates/etc. Do not get plastered or try for any upperclassman boys and you should be fine. You will probably get a bid if you are in the green GPA zone and you do not say anything offensive. Relax! You'll be fine, just have fun with it as hard as that sounds!

Thank you! Rush is just so serious around here. I wasn't stressed until I heard other girls stressing about it.

a lot will depend on your GPA. Assuming that you are an incoming freshman, how does your graduating GPA & rush resume look?

My GPA is above a 3.0, I have decent community service, and a really good ACT score.

To tell you the truth, your gpa is only very average, everybody has pages and pages of community service, and nobody even looks at ACT scores.

If you have not networked yet, you are at a huge disadvantage!

Pi Phi, AOPI, Theta, and ADPI will be the houses you should look at, they don't stress networking as much as the other houses that have already put together a pretty good working bid list already.

Unless you are socially awkward and make no effort to shine during rush you will be fine! Please relax and enjoy rush- some houses here are really hard to get into-but EVERY house here is great and special in it's own way and will offer you a great sisterhood! I wish you the best of luck and hope you find the perfect house for you!

Don't stress. It really isn't a big deal if you don't get into a house. Be yourself and make the best of your years in college. Sincerely
