clarification

by: question

If I am a pnm and have a friend from high school (not best friend) in one of the houses, and am from out of state. Before rush would it be a bad idea to go out with her? Will other houses think that I want to pledge her house because I go out with her? I know that connections are important, which is why I think it would be okay to do this and meet people, but you never know. I know there was a similar post not too long ago about this, but I just really wanted some clarification. Thanks!

I would say that it is okay. However I would caution you not to post any pictures on social media, those could be misconstrued. The rules are more relaxed this year so pnm's can network and get to know actives before rush.

Whatever you do, don't let the actives take your picture and post them online!!! My sorority has already cut girls that we have seen posing with kd actives. It's like you are sending us a clear message that you want a bid to kd. Why should be waste a precious spot for somebody who has so clearly expressed their interest in someone else. Kd's are famous for dirty rushing and this is just one of their tactics!

Hang out with actives, get to know them, but be smart about it.

is it because other sororities will think I want her sorority, or something else?

You don't have much time. No contact starts at Convocation. Until then, you speak to girls in class, in the dorm, if you go to a party or event.
