If you want to be honest about rankings, you have to admit a few things first. 1. Most girls (not all) want certain sororities going in to rush. 2. There are sororities we would die for bids to, sororities we would be happy to receive bids to, sororities we will settle for, and sororities we haven't really considered.
I went through rush last year and landed in a mid tier sorority. I was happy to receive a bid to this house and had a blast my freshman year. But to be honest, there is a hierarchy. Known to all, admitted to by most, and lied about by a few.
Tip top: DDD and XO Both royalty at Ole Miss. DDD are prettier, XO are smarter.
Top: KD and DG Both top tier. KD girls are prettier, DG girls are more competitive
Middle: Phi Mu and Kappa Both very respectable and everybody is happy on bid day. Phi Mu girls are a little nicer and Kappa girls are fun to hang out with.
Upper bottom: Pi Phi Girls are disappointed to get Pi Phi, but are generally happy that they didn't have to settle for the bottom.
Bottom: AOPi and Theta You have heard that there is no such thing as a bad sorority at Ole Miss. This is true. Both of these sororities have great girls and even though the girls who receive bids to them are upset on bid day, they quickly become obsessed with their sisters.
New: ADPi. Brand new. Huge mix of girls. Still wading through. Should be better defined after this years pledge class.

Agreed. They don't even rush the same girls. That's like saying DDD and DG are on the same level. They just aren't.

Clearly OP was a DG trying to sneakily bump up her house. DG is no where near as good as KD - not even close.

I'm gonna have to agree with sue here^^ Even if KD and DG aren't on the same tier, KD is definitely a step below chi o and DDD. There's a reason that girls that get cut from xo/ddd end up going KD.

I think AOPi's last pledge class puts them equal with Pi Phi. They had a pretty good rush.

If anything, Pi phi, AOPi, and theta are all equal. Thetas are way more fun than AOPis, but AOPi is still more desirable to PNMs

1200 girls go through rush and about 500 of them are disappointed? I don't think so….there are girls who CHOOSE to go AOPI, Theta, Pi Phi and they are not disappointed on bid day! They are as happy as all the other PNMs…although you did it a tad nicer, it is still sorority bashing.

i would say about 500 pnms are disappointed. and not because of aopi, pi phi, or theta. but because they don't get their first choice.

AOPI, Theta and Pi Phi and now ADPI are first choice for many girls. This forum does not accurately rate the way all of the sororities are viewed on campus.

my first choice was a bottom tier sorority when I went through rush. I worried the whole week that people from my hometown, where girls traditionally go top tier, would think I only chose that sorority because I got dropped from almost everything else, but I honestly wanted to be that because the girls I knew in there were the most genuine and fun. when I got a bid from said bottom tier sorority on bid day, it was the happiest day of my life. just know not all pnms have the same mindset. most do want too tier, but there are always exceptions.

Not all girls are cut out for top tier. You have to be confident and outgoing to fit in.

that was super rude. just because a girl likes a bottom tier sorority doesn't mean she "isn't cut out" for a top tier sorority. preference is preference. not a reflection of the quality of a girl.

Whatever helps you sleep at night....... I think the point the op was trying to make wasn't to criticize the bottom tier, but to give an accurate description of what goes on in the mind of an average pnm. Nobody starts out wanting bottom tier (convince yourselves otherwise, you know it's trust), but once there the girls love it.

I don't know why some girls can't accept that some pnms see something they like in a bottom tier house. it's 100% not weird to have connections in tons of houses coming through rush, but like the girls you know in bottom tier better. I'm not saying it's common, but it's not unheard of.

I wrote the last comment you are referring to. I am a pi phi, and I agree with the original poster. Everybody, including you, needs to get over themselves. I didn't start out wanting pi phi, but I love my sorority! I'm not looking for validation on this website as apparently you are, and I'm sure my sisters would agree with me.
We are not top tier, and we are okay with that!

I'm glad you love Pi Phi, and I love my sorority. I accept that my sorority is not top or even middle, but I loved it all the way through rush. Yeah. I liked XO and DG going through too, but I also liked the bottom house I ended up at. I wasn't at all disappointed, I was thrilled. I don't need someone to tell me we're top tier. We aren't. That's Ole Miss. But something good can be seen in every sorority throughout rush, so there's no need to make a PNM feel weird for liking ANY sorority. They're all full of great women. There's a home to be found wherever you go.

Tier 3 (Lower Middle): Pi Phi, AOPi. Half are excited, half are disappointed. Pi Phi girls are wild, AOPi girls are chill.
Tier 4 (Bottom): Theta, ADPI. There is no bad sorority at Ole Miss and there are still a fraction of girls who are excited here on bid day. Theta has a mix of all kinds of girls as does ADPi (since they are new).

would say that DG is still on it's own bubble tier away from Phi Mu and Kappa. Pi Phi and AOPi are finally at their rightful place of lower middle instead of upper bottom. & i would say DDD are rich and KD are pretty.
