recs before recruitment

I think your gamma chi's might be able to help you, some maybe, but not all. It's not really their job!

If they are able to help you, the rec really won't hold any water and will only serve as a "yes she has a rec, she is now qualified to receive a bid if we really really want her". It would be very impersonal! You barely know your gamma chi and have probably never met and will never meet the woman who would be writting your rec.

I think this might actually hurt you more than it would help. Recs are best coming from somebody who knows you very well!

However, if all else fails, it will at least get you a check in that "does she have a rec" box. I can't speak for all sororities, but most have a national rule that says they can't give a bid without a rec.

don't wait that long. The sooner recs and letters are in the better! Ask teachers, neighbors, friends, friends of friends or your local panhellenic association.
