If you are coming from up north, and want to be in a chapter that has high return rates, you will probably need to know CURRENT members of it, not just alums ... either through family or summer camp connections, or something of that nature. I'm not trying to discourage you or tell you it is unlikely you will get in one, but it is hard for girls from non-southern states, particularly where they don't know any members, to understand why they were cut. It is rarely that they didn't like you, it is just that they didn't KNOW you. Sororities much prefer to pick girls they already know, just the same as you would probably want to choose a sorority where you know and already like the members.

But don't despair! Plenty of chapters want new faces and recognize that sometimes northern girls get the shaft, and they know there are undiscovered gems and hidden treasures... They realize that there are girls who are overlooked, and there is usually a cat fight for the northern girls with high GPAs, looks and personality.
