junior rushing?
by: Hola ChicaI was wondering if i had any chance at getting into a top tier if i rush as a junior? I went to a community college my first 2 years. i know one girl in DDD and i would have all my recs. Is it worth rushing? or am i just wasting my time?

My vote is for wasting your time.
I don't think any one girls has enough pull to get you all the way through recruitment. Unless the rec is from a super sonic strong alumni, I don't think any top tier will take a junior. It's hard enough on sophomores.
Your entire pledge class would be freshmen! The freshmen and upperclassmen don't mix or socialize as much as you would think. And to top it all off, all three top houses require their pledge classes to live together their second year. You would be a senior forced to live with under 21 sophomores!

There are perfectly great sororities willing and wanting to take a Junior and you shouldn't only want top tier. If you had our heart set on that, you shouldn't have gone to a community college first. Theta and ADPi are very likely to take a qualified Junior, so if you want to be greek then stop acting above certain sororities!
#5by: Yes! Rush!
It never hurts to try. I rushed last year as a junior and so I feel your pain. It's harder to rush as an upperclassman and it is a little awkward with the pledge class age difference. That being said some of my best friends in my PC, ones my age and one was a freshman. So it is possible to find common ground. As far as actual recruitment Girls in the top houses will be rude to you as soon as you tell them your age. But I know theta and adpi won't cut you just because of you being upperclassman.
#6by: Try COB
If you find friends in houses it would probably be easier, and less troublesome/stressful/frustrating, to try to be a COB (Continuous Open Bid). All this means is that you rush after rush and it's an invite only thing by certain houses. Mostly only "bottom tier" houses will do it, and it's not a guarantee those houses will even do it. However, you don't have to pay the $100 and it's more relaxed and enjoyable. Plus, it's a smaller and usually older PC. The trouble would be finding out when these events are and getting invited, but it wouldn't be as difficult as going through normal rush without a chance for all the other houses. If you want to Rush, great! Some houses will look at you, that's true. But those are also the houses that would look at you for COB anyways if you find a friend in that house. COB also lets you have a chance to think about the houses more and find which ones you like and would be easier to establish yourself in as an older member.

Will theta take juniors? I thought with how "great they are" and "how they have moved up so far in the ranks" that they would be just like the others and not take juniors.
