the facts, again

by: repost

I'm just reposting because I feel like this is honestly the only credible and important thing I've ever seen on this site. This is a great way for PNMs to see where people from their state end up, although that may not be where they do! I added the data from the later comments as well!

Pi Phi and ADPi are not on this list, and while ADPi’s first pledge class was really too big to do this with, I would love to see Pi Phi added!
...

“Here are some actual facts about the membership make up of last years pledge classes for the top 6 sororities in alphabetical so no one can say I'm ranking.” (WHEN REPOSTING, I ADDED THE OTHERS INTO THE LIST.) “I think ranking are opinion only and will keep mine to myself. I might be off by one or two girls buts shouldn't affect the data much.”

I think it's only fair to explain.

We choose our sisters based on who we like. Isn't that how most people choose their friends? Accordingly, most of us already have younger friends who rush after us. We know these girls, we like these girls, and we gravitate towards these girls. Runs at ole miss is NEVER by chance! That is why we stress networking!

Let's say for example is am a pi phi from Indiana. I will naturally start my search for new sisters in my hometown! I will ask everyone I know if they are aware of any girls coming here next year and I will probably make contact with those girls and if I like them, I will try to recruit them. Thus, the more girls from your hometown or home state that are already in a sorority, the greater your chance to receive a bid.

Girls really don't concern themselves with girls from other states unless they are introduced by mutual friends or alumni. We can't get to know everyone, we stick to out hometowns.

That is why Mississippi and other southern girls have the advantage in certain sororities.

Really? Do you think that quality students from Indiana go to Ole Miss? They would go to Northwestern, University of Indiana or Minnesota. Not Mississippi.

True explanation ^^^^ it also deserves explanation that if you are from say VA. You will know no one in certain sororities you may know someone in others but maybe not. Does that decrease your chance of getting a bid to certain sororities unfortunately yes,but that does not mean you are not a quality top notch girl. That is why some sororities view themselves as the most sought after it is a numbers game and who has friends in what houses. PNMs just need to go thru rush and be as outgoing and unforgettable as they can it will all work out.

I am from Texas and I am really only looking at the girls from my hometown and surrounding areas. I am getting to know these girls and am prepared to go to bat for many of them. My focus is on them. For those pnm who keep saying that they don't know any girls, my heart goes out to them, because I will likely never get to meet them during rush. I will be concentrating on those I do know. I can't possibly get to know all 1300 girls going through.

We all focus our attention to our hometowns and states. If a sorority doesn't have a girl from your hometown, you are at a disadvantage, no question about it.

The op pointed out which sororities had girls from which state. Just because one sorority doesn't have anyone from your state doesn't mean we don't want you, it just means we won't have the opportunity to meet you prior to voting.

You do have a shot, you just need to network and find someone who can help you meet us. Maybe your roommate, or someone on your floor will know girls. Hang out with them..... Just one idea out if thousands.

i'm from mississippi in a mostly out of state house, and honestly, we don't look at hardly any girls from MS unless they're a legacy. girls want to recruit girls they know personally before rush. every house wants different girls. that's just how it works out

Girls recruit girls they know personally! Whether it is a top house or not, all houses recruit the same way! This is why it is so important to network!!!!!

Every time I see a pnm on here say that she doesn't know any active, I cringe! Ole Miss is different than most other schools in this regard! Even triple legacies are passed over for girls we personally know!

KD is only 38% Mississippi? Are you sure about that? Maybe their last pledge class, which floors me, but is that the statistic for the entire house?

Are their legacies choosing to go to other houses? I would imagine they could fill an entire pledge class with Mississippi legacies!

by: Yes

I'm a KD legacy and I chose a different sorority. My mom understood. KD is not the same sorority they were 25 years ago. Many legacies from Mississippi feel the same way. That's why they are having to go outside of Mississippi to find girls.
