do ranks stay the same?

i’m rushing this fall at ole miss & my mom went to ole miss in the 90’s and obviously some of those sororities are gone and now there’s some new ones, but she said the top 3 houses were
KD, ChiO, & DDD
is that still true? bc i know a bunch of girls in phi mu and it seems like they’re a good house too.

Kd Xo and Ddd are still really strong houses. There’s just not much of a gap in tiers anymore because girls have started desiring other houses more such as kkg dg and pm. Also, the way the previous top houses do rush tends to hurt them because they miss out on a lot of great girls since their alumns picks, while the other houses’s members select their new pledge classes themselves. That’s probably why it seems like those houses aren’t top anymore, but they have a lot of history at ole miss so they will never be bottom houses, and their history makes them big on things like legacies and money since they have a lot of alumns still involved. But to answer your question, yes they are still top, but there are other top houses now too. This makes it also less stressful for PNMs to get in a top house because they have more options now, and can find their true home by getting the feel of each one instead of trying hard to get into a top 3. That doesn’t exist anymore

If you are going through ole miss rush with the mindset of only wanting “top houses” you are completely setting yourself up for failure. Ole miss rush is COMPETITIVE, and if you are rude or seem uninterested at another house, you are limiting your options. This is a way a lot of girls get dropped from recruitment completely. Last year especially. Keep in mind ole miss only have 10 houses, this is not like bama

This is very accurate. People say that ranks change for each person’s opinions of them, but honestly each house has a different vibe and there is a house for everyone. Whether that is a partier, or a bookworm, or someone that’s involved, or someone that could care less about Greek life, there is a house for all of that. So ole miss is very lucky to be able to have all of these great houses pnms can choose from without being pressured by a tier bias.

Adding to this, if this clears things up, KD is still generally percived as the top house while DDD is now the least desired of the top 6. But it’s all personal preference. Some people fall in love with ddd, some people hated kd. So don’t base your decision on other people’s views or rankings because you want a “top house”. Because now you are more likely to get in one while still finding the house that’s best fit for you
