recruitment experience

by: Huff

This might get a lot of hate but I just wanted to give an honest review of my personal rush experience because it wasn’t really as simple as everyone makes it out to be. I’m not trying to hate on any house but I’m going to be completely honest, again just my opinions.
Most of the people who weren’t going DDD/KD/Chi O got cut from them on the first day. DG/KKG/Phi Mu kept way more girls after the first day but made more brutal cuts through out the week, I say this because most people know if they’re not going to get the main 3 and the really like the middle 3, so when they get cut from any of the middle 3 it’s more hurtful and personal. Phi Pi/Aopi didnt seems to really have to make that many cuts, I don’t think that many girls were looking at these houses going into the week but they were good fall back houses after the disappointment of being cut from the other 6ish. Adpi/ A Phi/ Theta hardly make any cuts, people will say Aphi cuts but I don’t think so because I ranked them and Theta last multiple times and kept getting them back on my schedule with no recs or decent conversations at either.

Everyone who went through recruitment will have their own stories to tell. I'm OOS, so I came to campus without a preference, of course by the time recruitment came around I was convinced like everyone else I would want KD, DDD or Chi-O. But I also knew I didn't have a chance with any those three. During recruitment I discovered DDD or Chi-O weren't my favorites, not that they cared, but I wasn't impressed enough to feel bad that I didn't get a second chance with either of those. Of the three I liked KD and made it through two rounds. I didn't really look at my other options as second choices, just different choices. I probably had an advantage in not coming to campus with my mind already set, so I enjoyed the rounds. I felt very fortunate to be chosen by what is considered a middle tier and I am still happy they chose me. I guess I am suppose to feel bad or something that I ended up in a middle tier but my sisters are amazing and smart. The tier worship thing seems high schoolish but it also seems important to a lot of people. Each to her own.

I'm in a bottom tier house. i went into recruitment think i knew what I watned. I was surprised at what I liked and didn't like and I was even more surprised by cuts, houses I thought went well cut me and others I felt weren't great stayed, things like that. I will be honest it didn't feel like my opinion matter much at all lol. At pref I was at a mid tier and bottom tier house. Going into pref I really thought I would go with the mid-tier house because it was the "better" of the two. But during pref I really realized that I wanted the house i'm in now. I ranked my "bottom tier" house first and it's the exact right place for me and I love it here. I can't imagine being in a better house and as far as i'm concerned it's the best on campus. Tiers are ridiculous. I'll also say that bottom houses do cut i was cut from a bottom house first round so, like the other poster said everybody has a different experience. they just don't cut as much as others and because the others make such big cuts it just sort of feels like bottom isn't making any. but they definitely do.

I always love when people start their post with "I don't mean to hate on any houses" which means that's exact what they are planning to do. But in regards to which houses had to 'cut' the most: With variable quota all the houses had to make some serious cuts. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. of them. Chi-O,DDD, and KD had a quota of 100 so their cuts were a little rougher than the others. However, AOPi, DG, Pi Phi and Phi MU only had a quota of 110/111 each so their cuts were also especially rough this year. Kappa and Theta had a little more recruitment room with quotas of around 135. Alpha Phi was allowed a larger quota of 160 to help them catch up to everyone else. Every sorority had to make some tough decisions. No one can come on this site and state how each sorority made their decisions or how each one handled their cuts or when they made those cuts.

You don't know what quota was for each group. You are making assumptions due to the sizes of pledge class. Exact quotas were never released, and the size of a pledge class doesn't necessarily tell us what the exact quota was. That being said, we know Alpha Phi had the largest quota due to being know. However, we don't know who had the smallest.

You must not have gone through recruitment. Anyone who went through recruitment could find out what each sorority's quota was. Although it wasn't advertised, the information wasn't hidden. I also know how many met their quotas and how many pledged to each sorority, however I am not going to post that information because of the idiots on here that will use that information to bash each sorority. There are people on here that will start bashing if a sorority is one or two off from their quota. My main point is that every sorority had to make tough decisions. Every sorority is looking for girls who they think will be a good fit for the sisterhood.
