what houses pull similar girls?

by: Question

Since people say that connections are everything, I'm wondering if there are houses that pull similar girls, where a lack of Ole Miss connections is really the only thing that prevents the bid? Does that make sense?

I'm just curious, especially with variable quota. So for example, if XO is considered laid back and involved, is there another house where that personality really fits well? AOPi comes to mind.

I guess I'm curious who cross rushes (or would cross rush) by type, not tier.

It actually does make sense. In my opinion this is how I would categorize based on rush, personality, and girls I know. Has nothing to do with ranks just what fits.
DG gets the girls who would have went Tri Delt had they had better connections and Kappa pulls the girls who would have went KD but didn’t have strong enough Ole Miss connections or didn’t quite make the cut. I think Phi Mu kinda gets their own type of girl like girls who go Phi Mu fit there. Same with Chi O. Not to be harsh but based on being on both sides of rush I don’t think you can honestly say that the “lower” houses actually rush a certain type of girl because they seem to all get thrown together by the end of rush week.

I think the lower tiers are establishing their own personalities and it's not just an anywhere they land mix up of girls.

I think ADPi pulls similar girls as DG. Aphi similar girls as KD. I agree with OP about XO and AOPi. Not sure about Theta. Maybe XO? But that doesn't really fit. Theta is such a mix. Thats actually something I really like about them. Although I know others don't.

And I think pi phi and kappa tend to attract similar types.

Personally I think it would line up more like:

KD - Pi Phi
DDD - AOPi
DG - Alpha Phi
Chi-O - Theta
Phi Mu
Kappa - ADPi

Basically, the "lower tier" sororities get the girls with no connections. They are great girls and great sororities, so instead of lower tier sororities, I will refer to them as less connected sororities.

KD, DG, and DDD are compiled of at least 50 percent legacies. The rest knew actives or influential alums.

KKG and PM have fewer legacies and may take SOME girls without connections if they really impress during rush.

I agree that ChiO is its own strange bird. It is probably more than 50 percent legacy (they don't cut any legacies because there have been some doozies that got in). The rest are MS girls that go to certain high schools (Jackson Prep) but would be lower tier material in reality.

that doesn't really answer the OP question, we all know that "top tier" is "high connections" and bottom tier is "less connections"

I think the point that the poster was making is that there isn't much cross rushing among the older and more connected sororities. The girls they want to pref are known by mid-summer (about half of which are legacies). That's why it's so important for PNMs to make connections through friends, family, etc and by visiting for games and spring parties.

Personality wise:
1. kd,kappa,aphi are similar
2. pi phi, adpi are similar
3. dg,aopi are similar
ddd - group of its own
chi o - group of its own
theta - group of its own
phi mu - similar to group 3

first group - houses in this group have girls who seem fun, friendly, attractive and social. they take competitions seriously.
second group - are chill, fun, and have a wide mixture of girls
third group - have sweet, quirky, laid back girls who are pretty mild and are the girl next door type
ddd - their personality is more of a over-confident one but i think it has definitely improved over the past couple of years. the snootiness has kind of set them a part.
chi o - they are mild and laid back like group 2 but they rarely have a presence on campus and are kind of exclusive
theta- is just very different from every other sorority here but they do their own thing and seem happy even though they may be a little weird
phi mu- could almost fit in with dg and aopi but they party a little more. not very quirky either

correction: chi o is more like group 3 not group 2

I'm curious why someone ask a question when they already state that one sorority comes to mind when comparing them to another. If you are already on campus you wouldn't have to ask, and if you aren't on campus you wouldn't know enough to compare. So I figure this is just another Mom trying to find a way to keep their precious tier battles going without seeming obvious.

adpi and dg pull very similar girls. a lot of the time adpi just takes girls who would have gone DG but kinda fell through the cracks or didn’t make enough connections. both good houses and gorgeous and sweet girls just like the rest of this campus’s sororities

DDD & Pi Phi & AOii
KD & Kappa & APhi
ChiO & Theta
DG & ADPi
Phi Mu

all of these really are kind of a stretch & sororities don’t really have a 100% type but you for those of you who wanna feed into the BS
