my roommate is trying to get me blacklisted

by: Victim

I connected with my roommate on the Ole Miss FB page. We met at orientation and I thought things went well. Apparently not from her point of view. We're both from out of state but she's from Texas and knows a lot of people and I'm from NY and don't know nearly as many girls. Anyway, I found out she confided in someone that she doesn't like me at all and is going to try to get me blacklisted, especially from top tier sororities where she has friends. I've done nothing wrong! Honestly, I think she's jealous of me. How much power does she have to ruin my recruitment? I'm scared!

You might wish to consider removing your home state from your original post. There are plenty of Texas gals at Ole Miss, but not so many from your neck of the woods. This thread might make you to easily identifiable. You can bet the sorority actives are reading everything posted here!

not sure if i should pull the troll card, the post is really dumb

no 1 girl can blacklist another girl, let alone a PNM. also it's nearly impossible to be blacklisted. people say blacklist just to scare you, in reality there is no such thing.

not calling you a troll, but a girl from NY that's doesn't have a mom alumni from an ole miss chapter of a top sorority, is not going to get into a top sorority. seems like some bs excuse "oh my roommate blacklisted me that's why i didn't get into ddd/kd/xo"

sweetheart, if you aren't from the south and don't have alumni status here, i'd look away.

This could be a legit post - out of region girls totally unfamiliar with rush usually have no idea that getting into a top house is super unlikely to happen. Perhaps the Texas girl (who is familiar with how it works) planted the "blackball" seed to scare her - very mean, but could have happened so this has freaked the NY girl out.

I've known out of region girls unfamiliar with rush be totally stunned and devastated when cut from top tiers because of having no clue about how it works.

I don't think this is a troll. It hasn't fallen into insults or screaming about one house or another.

The only person here acting rude is you.

If New York is reading this site then TX is definitely reading also. There can't be very many NY/TX roommate matchups going through recruitment. I think there is more to this or it's just a troll.

If it's real then TX already knows you know.
If it's real insist on a new roommate due to bullying.
If it's a troll well then troll along la di da

Hi I am an active from NY and you have nothing to worry about. When I rushed I was scared of getting cut and went into rush with a completely open mind. I ended up in a top tier house and truly felt that I belong there even though I was surrounded by all southern girls. You will find the right place for you, just be yourself! As long as you have your recs and know how to connect with people you should be fine.

As for the roommate, try to get a new one... my roommate was awful. TBH your roommate is already probably blacklisted from several houses because actives don't want to hear PNMs try to make the bid list (someone tried to do this in my house one year).

Wasn't that other school's Winter 2016-17 blacklisting recruitment thread concerning a gal from NY vs a gal from TX? I call troll too.
