Just curious where do we rank ourselves in Greek life
by: UWanted to come on here and see where we see ourselves ranked in Greek life out of all schools in the nation. I was talking to people from other schools on east coast and they view IU as a major party school. I would personally rank us top 10 overall but I don’t know where we’d fall in the top ten bc I obviously haven’t seen the greeklife at most big Greek schools

Top 5 no doubt. We are definitely up there with bama, FSU, UGA and schools like that. Nobody on east coast, west coast, or Midwest really can compete. Yes we may feel like Greek life is declining here a little but the same thing is happening at all these southern schools. For those that come on here from other schools don’t try to argue if you go to Illinois I’ve been there multiple times and they just use the fraternities as a pregame. The fact that you can’t really go to bars here until you’re 21 makes Greek life here that much more important

IU used be one of the strongest Greek systems in the country but not anymore. I would say the top in no order are Cornell, U of I, Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida, Georgia, Florida State, Virginia, UNC and Vanderbilt. IU used to be stronger when my parents where here but it’s been a mess for a while.
There is an alum who puts advice on here occasionally. Last year one of the posts explained in detail how things fell apart at IU relative to other campuses (mostly the administrations fault). I am pretty sure IU paid to have it removed Within a few days. If anyone saved that, it would be great to put back up....not a lot else to do right now.

IU Greek life is a beast in the US. I honestly don’t think that many people care who parties with who, within reason. Obviously some houses will have more sociable people than others, but I think people trick themselves into thinking that tiers matter more than they actually do.

It would be nice to be able to go to bars under 21 but Greek life here is fs one of the best, it attracts a lot of terrible people but at least we know how to throw down
