most involved sororities?

by: New Freshman!

Hey y'all! I will be a freshman next year at Tulane, and although I doubt I will have the money to join a sorority, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what sororities are 1) down-to-earth, 2)classy, 3) involved on campus and in volunteer work, and/or 4)values sisterhood. I'm not so big on the party scene, but sisterhood and involvement are extremely important to me!

down-to-earth, classy, involved, sisterhood = theta, phi mu, chi o, sdt

note on partying: it's fine to not be into the party scene, but partying is a huge part of greek life - and that's a good thing! nothing bonds you with your sisters like your social life, trust me

I didn't mean I don't like to party! I just mean that I don't care about reputation involving partying :)

It's great that you're interested in Greek life and so wonderful that you are considering things like sisterhood and class! I applaud you for that. However, joining a sorority is a big commitment that you should intend to make for all 4 years. If you think there's a reason you may have to drop - money, for instance - it would be a disservice to your sisters to join in the first place and you would be taking the spot of someone who is willing to make that commitment. I'm not discouraging you from rushing, I just think this POV is something to consider.

Also, I agree with the babygirl post - don't knock partying before you try it. It's not just sloppy kids dry humping on the dance floor (which ALL freshman try at the Boot anyway) and it's a really great way to bond with your sisters.

The sororities that have what you're looking for: chi o, theta, phi mu, sdt

You're looking at phi mu, theta, sdt. I mean, yeah Chi O fits your criteria too, but Chi O is one of the hardest houses to get into on campus. Not that any of these houses are a sure thing - Tulane Greek life is getting increasingly selective.

Thanks y'all! I worded my original post incorrectly - I don't care about a sorority's reputation involving partying, looks, etc. Not that I don't care about those things in particular, it's just that the other things such as sisterhood, involvement, and general niceness are much more important to me!
