Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 1.4 This chapter has a lot of issues. Joining was a huge mistake. It is a lot more expensive than presented. A lot more time consuming. It becomes difficult to earn a degree and keep up with all the meetings and required activities. If you drop, you will still owe money for a year. We spent thousands of dollars on this. It was the worst experience of college.

Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 4.9 They are very inclusive and humble. The nicest and smartest girls among the sororities. They also involved a lot both on and off campus. They might not be the prettiest but all have good personalities that draw people in and brighten other’s day.

Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 3.2 AOII is an amazing chapter and does have a lot of up and downs but so does EVERY chapter EVER in the history of Greek life. These girls are their most authentic selves and if you are going through recruitment this year I encourage you to keep an open mind and learn all about the houses. I also don’t recommend reading these Greek ranks because it could be anyone saying ANYTHING. AOII has saved me and helped me become a successful person and that wasn’t without hardships. I took leadership positions early and didn’t get to fully enjoy just being a sister. But without taking those leadership roles I wouldn’t have grown as much as I did. Balancing school and a sorority is very challenging but if you can learn proper time management anything is possible. These girls put their all into everything and it’s so admirable. Keep an open mind, and know it will be hard sometimes but will always be rewarding at the end.

Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 2.0 I am writing this as a warning to the new pnm's that are going through formal recruitment. Do. Not. Join. This house. If by some misfortune you get a bid (which will probably happen because panalennic will try to make sure every house gets an equal number of bids.) Drop and go through recruitment next year. This sorority costs too darn much to then go around blaming its members for the bullying and harassment they experienced while being a sister. This chapter will tell you whatever it takes to get you to join because if they don't have a good recruitment this year, they are getting shut down for good. They will no doubt not mention the horrendous time commitment, mislead you on how much the dues are (they don't even know how much it costs. Headquarters is terrible lol) and nor will they mention all of the fines and 'punishments' having a life outside of this chapter will entail. Expect to not be able to do anything outside of chapter events and work an extra job to cover those dues. You will have no time to take an internship/co-op during the semester or seriously be involved in any professional groups outside of the sorority. It seems counter intuitive to go to college and then join a group that prevents you from getting the most out of your degree. They will lie to you during recruitment and say that you could choose another status option or miss events for career development but, expect to be ridiculed and then fined even though you provided good reasoning and proof of the event. It is like having your parents hassle you about every little thing you do. If they were more flexible and cheaper then they could get more people to say but oh well. They best not write another response making 'vague claims' about how chapter has helped their life despite the fact that the bragged on a sister for working at Kroger lmao.

Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 1.4 Got told about all of this and I had to hop on. I love the gaslighting in the paid positive response below. Imagine guilt tripping sisters and insisting that this is all the sister's fault. They ignored all of the illegal activity and bullying behind the scenes. I'm thinking about leaving soon too lol. There's a reason the turnover rate is so high. Being told to 'raise money' is fine but i wish we would disclose it during recruitment so members don't have to pay the bill themselves because no one donates to those things except parents... Also last semester a lot of us were only told to raise money one week before the deadline. In all ive made a few friends but I could have done that organically and skipped this whole mess..

Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 1.0 I wonder how much money they just paid that member to post that “honest” review. We all know chapter is ridiculous and the worst sorority on campus so don’t try to sugar coat it. Everyone’s too busy doing frat laps and going to frat parties to even fix the issues themselves.

Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 4.7 AOII has given so many amazing opportunities in chapter. As an active I’ve been able to come out of my shell. A lot of the people who have left chapter seem to only express the issues they had with chapter, but they didn’t want to be apart of the solution. I’ve seen members leave and be negative because “it wasn’t the experience they expected”, because they had to raise money or do service hours or attend meetings. But as a member of Greek life completing philanthropic work, doing service hours, attending meetings, and much is a well known thing about what being a sorority includes. You also get the benefits of going to socials and mixers, having a formal and/or semi formal, and some fantastic sisterhood events! A lot of the members who complain don’t want to offer a solution to help better their time in chapter. Your experience is what you make it. If you are constantly late, not going to things, not raising money, not doing service hours, not doing study hours, and not going to things or participating, then that is the experience YOU have created for yourself. It’s not the organization or members fault. AOII is such a great place to call home, and I love being a member who gets to participate in all these amazing things that we have to offer. Joining AOII has been the best choice I’ve ever made because I made my experience as enjoyable and beneficial as possible.

Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 1.9 My new member period was great. I was close with my pledge class and the new member educator was an angel. It all ended once I got formally initiated. I was almost immediately pushed away by the older members, belittled and infantilized by sisters who had been there for longer, and left with virtually no support system after most of the sisters I liked went special status/early alumni. The turnover and burnout rate is very high. I was harassed multiple times for not knowing how things worked and for being on the quieter side. I had terrible timing and became an initiated member right before formal recruitment season. The vetting process for giving out bids is just as horrendous as the rumors about it are. when it comes down to it, they only care if you can pay the dues and not if you are a good sister. They are nice during your new member period so they can get your money. Then toss you to the curb once they have you locked in after initiation. I only lasted a semester and a half, most of my pledge class was considering leaving, and the people who stay after all of the drama and dysfunction are 'not great' to put it mildly. I should know, I had the misfortune of living with them. If you get nothing from this review please take this. DO NOT LIVE IN THEIR HOUSE. My roommate got switched at the last minute and without my knowledge to a sister who had many known 'problems'. She became uncomfortable to live with after she broke house rules and was acting destructive toward herself and other sisters less than a week after I moved in. I had no support system to help me deal with her. In normal uah dorms, there are resident directors who can set up meetings and facilitate agreements between roommates but, there is no such thing in the Greek houses. The sister in question was left to run around rampant and it got so bad that I essentially moved out by the end of the month. Our dysfunctional standards team did virtually nothing. This, along with the failure by the college to perform basic maintenance in our house. (Yes UAH owns our house.. it's terrible) and the refusal of our director of chapter property at the time to do anything (or to be a pleasant person in general) virtually destroyed my life for a semester. All of these issues can be traced back to a key issue, none of the officers are capable of their positions. There are a few gems but for the most part, they are under trained and couldn't care less. At the worst, they are on a power trip of the only elevated position they will ever have in their lives. Even if the officer's intention started out good, aoii's hq is only a money collector and offers them no actual support. These sisters are just praying they don't have another ELC visit/investigation. This organization is embarrassing and our founders would be ashamed of our chapter and headquarters. Also, did I mention that they are terrible with money in general??? Headquarters is terrible about keeping track of dues and transparency. The members are terrible as well. Expect to pay hundreds more per semester than what they tell you during recruitment. Some events cost extra money plus the inevitable fines you will accumulate due to missing the tons of mandatory events/requirements each semester. There are two other sororities on campus who I am sure have varying levels of the same dysfunction.. but cost less money
