Alpha Gamma Delta - ΑΓΔ Sorority at University of Calgary, Canada - UofC 3.2 I joined this sorority and later dropped out due to covid. I probably would have stayed if covid didn't exist and become an alumni. Here's the real tea- some girls are fake, terrible, mean and petty but some girls are amazing, honest, genuine. I was not friends with everyone and some of the girls I really didnt like. Like any large friend group, you find your people. For me- I was truly friends with 5-7 girls, and now still friends. I don't regret joining but there's also a lot of things to consider. I was 18 when I joined, meaning I wanted as many friends as possible, wanted to party and wanted to be a part of a club. Although intimidating, AGD gave me a sense of security, while I was in their group, I belonged. However, I WISH I joined some other clubs. While you are able to do both, sororities are huge time commitments, and often times you get punished if you dont show up to a certain number of meetings, events, etc... And school isn't an excuse to miss- which is insane because that's the whole reason we are there. It also costs money- and they always say its investing in your time but it's not- it's a lot of money- like a couple hundred a semester plus any fees you need to pay extra for events and recruitment merch. etc... It's also so dramatic- when I look back now as an older and wiser woman, I realize a lot of it is BS. now this is not AGD only it's all sororities. There's an executive council and they think it's their business plus the grown adult alumni women to discuss personal and traumatic events of the members to see if they won't fine you (yes real money) for an invalid excuse to attend meetings. This I was NOT okay with. TBH the people who are saying amazing things (on AGD and AOII) are probably members or members who were part of the "popular" group (which yes- exists). I had a great time overall and can still see the negatives bc im not blind. If I could go back in time, I would probably join for first year to make those friends then quit. A lot of it wasn't worth it but as a 18-year-old I was attracted to the idea of having lots of female friends and being a girls girl. BUT focus your energy elsewhere lol. Luckily, I had made other friends that I could fall back on once I quit. Also no one sorority is "better" than the other, there's good people and bad people in each, so those comments are def from the members of the sorority trashing the other one. It really depends what you want out of it, but tbh would not recommend. Look around for some different clubs.

Alpha Gamma Delta - ΑΓΔ Sorority at University of Calgary, Canada - UofC 1.5 Literally made me pay to drop out of the cult! Do yourself a favour and just go to any bar in Calgary and give a snobby group of girls hundreds of dollars… and it would still be better than this

Alpha Gamma Delta - ΑΓΔ Sorority at University of Calgary, Canada - UofC 4.2 Alpha Gam is a great sorority if you ask me. However they tend to care too much about what other people think of them which can result in things like drama or coming off as fake. It’s a shame because they really are an amazing group, and they should focus more on just being themselves. I always love their events and tbh their IG feed is super cute too

Alpha Gamma Delta - ΑΓΔ Sorority at University of Calgary, Canada - UofC 2.2 AGD girls are superficial and petty. The chapter is cliquey, and there is constant drama between the cliques. On social media, the sisterhood seems loving, but in reality the girls hardly make effort to talk to one another. The girls constantly compete with one another, and will absolutely throw their sisters under the bus if they feel threatened. If you want to make friends then join a club, go to the frat parties, or talk to people in your classes! You don't need greek life to have a social life on campus.

Alpha Gamma Delta - ΑΓΔ Sorority at University of Calgary, Canada - UofC 3.5 If you don’t initially match the “blueprint” or fit in with the initiated members when you join, it’s gonna be hard. I joined a while back, and It’s only now that I’m realizing that this chapter does not care about the mental health or personal wellbeing of their members. I unfortunately had to miss quite a few events due to unfortunate personal reasons, yet they only cared about making me attend these “mandatory” events. Rather than checking in and even showing the least amount of concern, they care only about their “perfect” image that’s merely a facade. Save your money and find another club or group on campus that actually values you as a human being.

Alpha Gamma Delta - ΑΓΔ Sorority at University of Calgary, Canada - UofC 1.5 Do not waste your time or money joining a sorority on campus. BEWARE OF THE LIES THEY FEED YOU DURING RECRUITMENT. The whole thing is a facade. If I could go back in time, I would have never made such a stupid decision. Seriously ruined my university experience. If you want to be smart with your time there are plenty of other clubs on campus thats have far less drama, care more about the mental health of their members, and cost practically nothing to join. And don't even get me started on the frat boys....seriously, to whomever is reading this, you are better than this. Don't do it.
