what does it take?
by: CuriousHow hard is it to get bids from the top tier sororities? And what do they look for? I've heard some are just based on looks, but then I've seen schools in the south (Bama, UT) which you have to be a legacy, have stellar grades, money, looks, etc. Can someone help me out? Thanks!

I'm in one of these 3 organizations, and truth be told, you'll have no problem getting a bid from one of these three if you make a genuine connection. Like everyone has said just be yourself because you simply cannot force a 5 minute conversation to go well no matter how hard you try. It's ironic because when I went through recruitment I wanted to get a bid from 2 of these top three and I was focused on getting into those two (I already had friends in those two). However, after the first and second rounds the other "top tier" sorority I wasn't even expecting to be crazy about was the one for me and it was the best choice I made for myself to go with what felt right for me and not where I had a few friends. Also, even if you get into a top tier organization, know that you may not love it if it isn't where you fit in. When you make your final decision and you are choosing between a top tier or middle/bottom tier sorority, choose the one you feel most comfortable or else you're just going to feel awkward for the next few years.
