Incoming frosh confused about rush

I’m gonna be moving in soon and I am really interested in joining Greek life. I was completely sure that Stanford was a spring rush school… but then chi o posted a fall recruitment post with a September deadline. Wth. Is chi o the only one rushing in the fall??? How does that make sense???

chi o is doing "continuous open bidding" or COB which is a way they can add new members outside the formal rush period (which yes, is in the spring.) COB is only open to sophomores and older who didn't join a sorority in spring rush.
