rush advice/letters of rec?
by: incoming freshmanhi, I will be a freshman next year and I’m looking to rush a sorority. What should I expect in terms of questions they ask during recruitment, and what are expectations in regards to what is included in a letter of rec? Also, are there any sororities on campus that have a reputation for being difficult to get a bid from?

Honestly, letters are good for getting chapters to know your name before you come in the door but they get so many...they don't have much weight. Many houses are heavily "in-state" or Kansas City girls while others are more representative of "in-state" and "out-of-state" girls. Please come in with an open mind and be yourself. Houses just want to see that you're excited, relatable, and passionate about something. (We're looking for our new sisters too!) Don't bring up boys, bars, drinking or politics... thats a big way to not get invited back. Most importantly though... come excited to meet every house and be ready for a really long week. Keep in mind lots of houses self rank and the "rankings" do not accurately reflect ANY house. I'm in a house and know and hang out with at least 2 or 3 girls in every single other house.
