Respond Report
Sigma Chi - ΣΧ Fraternity at University of California, San Diego - UCSD 4.7 Attended UCSD a while back and was a member of EX (before the allegations surfaced). As an alum, it's pretty awful to hear what those individuals did to those girls not gonna lie. Im sorry to the victims, that should have never happened. It reflects poorly on all of us and completely negates the many years of great philanthropic work and great recruiting Sigma Chi did at UCSD. Can't speak for the current state of things but during my time at UCSD, Sigma Chi had an outstanding reputation and had a positive impact on campus. Brotherhood was strong, members were approachable and welcomed all Greek and non-Greek affiliated students. We were proud to wear the letters. We organized large scale philanthropic events, and good social events as well. Of course there were the bad seeds at that time too, but if we're gonna open up the court of public opinion - what fraternity doesn't have members that "slip through the cracks" so to speak. I can't say enough about how meticulous recruitment screening was to make sure guys like that didn't get bids. It's extremely unfortunate the process failed them at some point down the line and it reflects poorly on not only the active members but alums as well. I know they're gonna do everything possible to make sure something like this never happens again, justice is one of the core tenets EX was founded on. As an alum, I'd like to see the few guys that were involved in those incidents take accountability, but I also hope people understand the actions of a few bad seeds shouldn't personify the fraternity as a whole, and their actions certainly don't transcend time.

Sigma Chi - ΣΧ Fraternity at University of California, San Diego - UCSD 4.5 Glad that they are going through the due process for the allegations that have come up. It’s a shame so many people have judged them without knowing all the facts.

Sigma Chi - ΣΧ Fraternity at University of California, San Diego - UCSD 4.5 It's so sad how people can spew hate against an entire group of individuals because of the alleged actions of a few. I hope before people continue to write nasty posts they think about how they would feel if someone they knew was accused of a crime and in turn they were harassed. I hope that light is shed on the situation and victims of any crimes receive justice, however I encourage people on this platform to not engage in a mob mentality and instead wish the best for victims as well as members of this chapter who knew nothing of the situation at hand and are receiving all these hurtful words. It is not right to speak on matters, especially ones like this, or spread rumors, when we do not know the full situation.

Sigma Chi - ΣΧ Fraternity at University of California, San Diego - UCSD 5.0 A lot of this seems like misdirected anger. You can't judge 100 people based off the actions of only a few people. You can't also judge the actions of a few people without letting them face their accusers and not providing ample evidence in the name of anonymity. You also can't play judge, jury, and executioner in these types of complex situations. You also can't spread rumors and defame entire organizations. Nobody is invalidating the stories of those affected by some of the people in the Sigma Chi chapter here at UCSD. However, there needs to be an appropriate balance of accountability but also justice and due process. Rash tirades and unfounded accusations will only delegitimize and undermine the valid argument that there needs to be a culture change. However, this goes beyond Sigma Chi and you cannot simply make an example of one fraternity at the expense of innocent people who would never dare commit any of the allegations there are being accused of.
