rush

is it okay to fill out rush forms or contact the rush chairman for rush events for fraternities where you know absolutely nobody and just want to explore the different fraternities at a school as opposed to going to fraternities where you know a lot of people and/or your friends are rushing? so that way you can go to places your friends aren't to branch out? Is it considered lame to contact rush chairman for rush events?

As a general rule of thumb, you can't invite yourself to a rush event. If you contact them and they are engaging and ask you to come, then by all means do it. But otherwise, you're probably walking down a dead end road.

Contact the rush chairman and he will either invite you to a summer rush event or encourage you to stop by during open rush. Summer rush events are more invites only but many will invite you if you contact them. Open rush you can go to any house on campus.

By all means contact them. It's their job to hear out all rushees that are interested and they won't look down on you for it.
