age max

by: Curious

Are there any older girls who rush? I’m a non traditional freshman student. 30 yrs old. Do they only pick girls in the 18-20 range? I just started college and would love to be apart of a sisterhood but didn’t know if age was looked at. Thanks for any help.

Well I don’t know any girls personally in your age rank, but since you’re considered a freshman I’m 99% sure you’re allowed to rush even being older than the average sorority girl. So you should go for it if you’re unsure about it. I mean why do you want to rush? Do you look younger than the average 30 year old?

I don’t think I look super young but definitely not 30. I researched Panhellenic as well as NPHC. I know it’s more common in NPHC but I’ve met some nice girls in the Pan community and wanted to keep options open.

Yeah definitely go for it. Even if you don’t end up wanting to join one you still make so many friends during the week of recruitment that makes that experience great too. (:

I’ll be completely honest with you, most sororities are gong to drop you the first day, if not all of them. Think about it, all the girls in your pledge class are going to be 18-20, do you really want to be spending time with girls who are in completely different parts of their lives? I hope this isn’t cruel, I just don’t want anyone to sugar coat it for you and then you get disappointed!

Yeah but I think it’s worth a shot for her to try anyways because even if she gets dropped or whatever then she’ll still make so many friends that week in her group ! If it’s worth $100 to you then you should do it .

No that wasn’t cruel at all. I thank you for your honesty. :)

Fall 2016 we had one lady rush and she had kids. I think she ended up dropping or just got dropped altogether. I mean it’s worth a shot but again... Do you really want to be around a bunch of YOUNG college girls that are mainly freshmen. I say this as someone who is 24 and feels old as heck in her sorority. But again you do you girlie! ALTHOUGH. I will say the service sororities might be a better fit than PAN. :)

They’re also suuuuuper sweet and do great projects!!
