middle tier
by: freshmanWhat are the best middle tier fraternities, and what are their reputations? I don't think I want to join a "top" house, but I'd like to join a really good middle one.

Upper: delt, kappa sig, phi delt
Middle to lower middle: pike, sae, ato
From there just check them out and see where you feel most comfortable. Your best decision would be to choose someone relevant who fits you the most. Even though people consider other ones top house doesn't mean they're people you enjoy. I went all around to find my favorite and if you do that right you'll be happy.

Delt - upper middle tier; growing rapidly; odd mix of guys, some really hot and some awkward and weird; decent parties
Phi Delt - great parties; little involvement on campus; lots of fun, which keeps them up there, but that's their main quality
Kappa Sig - can sometimes come off as try-hards; have a lot of potential; fun parties, pretty cool guys
Pike - really taken off lately; good group of guys who seem to be really close; decent parties; need to recruit well this year and they'll move up
SAE - nice guys, aka the type to take home to mom and dad; parties are kind of lacking, but not bad; seem to have reached their plateau but are a solid middle tier frat
ATO - most in danger of falling; have potential but don't use it well; parties are fun, but the guys can be creepy and the beer is always warm; need to step it up this year to get back on track

Can you describe each of them? What makes Delt different from Kappa Sig, or the other two? Also, are these the only mid tier fraternities?
