pnms dont do it

by: sororityty

seriously do not listen to this site. There are great girls in every sorority and the only people who really care about the rankings are the most insecure chapters. Just see who you click with and find your fit :)
Happy Rushing!!!

Not exactly. I rushed at Clemson and I did not end up in the with the right fit.The tier rankings are not all that important, unless of course you are into that type of thing. The more important thing is learning about the personality of the sororities and their reputations. Are you southern, are you northern, are you sporty, are you religious, are you into music, are you a partier, are you studious, are you into pageants, are you into gaming.

Now finding that type of information on the different sororities and not just want the sorities present during rush would be super helpful.

I rushed this fall and this website definitely shaped my opinions on chapters going into rush which definitely didn’t help since I was both surprised and disappointed in certain chapters, but open house gives SUCH A BETTER IDEA as you get to meet girls and can get the general vibe of a chapter. Going in with an open mind is so clutch

I totally wish I had read this sight before rush.I don't have an older sister and I am from out of state. I came here not knowing anybody or anything about the sororities or really even how rush works. It was so hard. I cried every day. I got dropped by ones that I thought I had clicked with. I did get a bid and I like it but I don't love it. Some of the others just seem better and I would probably agree with some of the rankings that I see on this board. I have met lots of people since then and I seem to click with a lot of girls that are in a different sorority. I so wish that I had not rushed and waited until I got to know the reputations a little better.

So you might say don't listen to this site, but I think you should if you know nothing at all about the sororities hear because all of the SC girls will know exactly which ones the want and the will be ruthless in making sure you look bad.

"...all of the SC girls will know exactly which ones the want and the will be ruthless in making sure you look bad."
Honey, the SC girls rushing had no influence on your rush. They had an advantage because they already knew actives in houses, and they did not give a thought to you or making you look bad. Just because you got dropped from certain houses doesn't mean they didn't actually like you, it was about fit and numbers. Move on from rankings, enjoy your own sorority and have friendships in other houses as well. And if you think your house could be better then get busy and do something about it !

Believe me, you were not in my shoes -- girls were 100% ruthless and rude.

No I'm a freshman who wish I was more prepared and knew more about the sororities reputations before I went thru brutal rush process my first week at Clemson. It was so hard. I didn't know anybody and a bunch of the local girls knew people and knew the reputations of all the sororities and they knew exactly what they wanted and didn't want. It was just so confusing. A lot of my friends schools did spring rush and I really wish that Clemson did that because I think if I had known a little more about the sorority stereotypes and reputations I would have focussed a little different at rush. So many girls just dropped out of rush because they got dropped by some sororities and they didn't want to be in one that they were invited back to. I think if I had known more I would have probably dropped out rather than take the bid that I did and then I would have tried to rush again to get in a "better" sorority. And by better I don't mean higher ranked, because I think the rankings are superficial, but by better I mean one that had girls that I felt were more like me.

You (and other PNMs) are under the mistaken belief that you make the ultimate decision who to join during rush. Make no mistake, in the end it is the chapters who have final say. And it is the chapters who have a better sense of who will fit into their chapter than you. All this BS about knowing reps, and "knowing who you want," and believing you can you somehow work the system for the bid you want is false and is going to lead to a bunch of heartache. You don't know how it really works (RFM, recruitment) because you have not been on the other side yet, but I hate to think that some poor PNM is going to read your "advice" and end up getting hurt. You were lucky to get a bid from any Clemson sorority, and if you followed your advice, you'd be a GDI right now. Any PMNs should go in with an open mind, be themselves (and cater to some make-believe reputation they read on here), and trust the process. Consider yourself fortunate if you get a bid and give yourself time to form relationships in your new group. BTW, I feel sorry for your sorority because you do not appreciate the value of being in any Greek organization or specifically the value of a group of women who took a chance and chose you over other PNMs.

Sorry, meant DON'T cater to reputations you read on here. They are not true in the first place.

That is exactly the problem -- as a rushee you really have no say in who drops you and who keeps you. I did not have a great experience at rush week. I cried every single day. I cried because I was away from home and didn't know a single person. I cried because I got invited back to houses and thought I did so well and I got dropped. And I cried when it happened the next round. And I cried when I got my pref round choices. And in the end I don't know how I even got a bid because I never really liked it that house all along. I like the girls now and all but it was so hard in the beginning because it wasn't an instant friend group. I just think if I had know more about the reputations that I know now that I could have had a different focus during rush.

Exactly! Sick of seeing the attacks on this page so I’m speaking up. Greek life here is great and nothing like what this page reflects. All sororities and frats mix with each other and there are no real-life tiers or ranks. That’s garbage on this page for self promotion or attempts at bringing others down. Don’t think for a minute these posts on here are designed to help you!

Is there anywhere else I can find information on sororities at Clemson that is more than just a brief bio? I’m rushing in the fall and not close enough with anyone that goes there to ask about the different “types” of girls each sorority takes. With that being said, I’ve also heard rush is very fake and there’s not a lot of things you are “allowed” to talk about. How am I supposed to know? If not here, where do I look?

just dont talk about the 5 Bs- Boys, Booze (parties/drinking), Bible (religion), Bama(aka Obama aka politics not just obama LOL), and Bucks (how much money you have). You can literally talk to the girls about random stuff sometimes especially when you really click with one! Ask girls who go here and just be open! You can only gather so much from social media. Also dont bash other sororities in the parties its tacky and theres a good chance you can get released from rush because they talk to one another. Your pi chi will have you 100% prepared at orientation!

How many girls rush and how many people actually get bids? Are there too many girls rushing for all of them to receive a bid? Or can everyone get a chance to go somewhere (even if it isn’t a top choice for them)?

last year, 1,069 girls rushed and abour 850 got bids, so no you are not guaranteed a bid. its really hard, but there is a chance you will be dropped by every sorority and released from rush. If this happens you can rush again next year! The number of girls rushing next year (august 2019) is expected to be way higher that 2018, and an entire sorority is now gone so more girls will be released from the recruitment process
