Speaking generally about GLOs: Membership selection is a private matter to each chapter, so a member of one chapter can't tell you about how another chapter selects its members. Sometimes even members can't tell you how their own chapter does its selection since only a handful of officers are involved are involved in the process. Some factors for selection you can guess at, and some you probably can't. If you are not moved forward in the process, it doesn't mean that they didn't like you. It would be a lie to say that members are not aware when a PNM from an influential family is coming through. The top tier chapters will definitely be taking a very hard look at that PNM and will most likely be competing for her.
