informal rush for sororities?
by: Rising Soph. girlHi, which sororities participate in informal fall rush? I didn't rush in the spring but am interested in rushing in the fall.

Another option is snap bids. Sometimes someone will drop out of their sorority (usually a senior who doesn't want to pay dues for mixers when they're gonna spend all their time at bars) and a spot will open up. There's no formal recruitment for this, but sometimes a girl in that sorority will nominate one of her friends for the open spot. So let your friends know you're looking to join, in case anything opens up! From my understanding, snap bids are a good way to join a middle tier sorority (Theta through ADPi) but if you want a more sure fire way of getting in, informal recruitment with GPhiB and ChiO is a good option (don't pay attention to the naysayers above).

Would you say this is true for all the sororities or just Theta?

GPhi and ChiO will definitely have COB, and usually one or two others do as well. As far as COB being a surefire way, just know that not everyone who does COB gets a bid (less than half got into GPhi last round, I think) but it is a much safer bet than waiting on snap bids! Reach out to the chapters you're interested in and see if they're having it.

Talk to your friends in the chapter you like and see if they're having it or have open spaces -- if not, you can pretty easily find the recruitment chairs of most of the sororities on their websites!

Just for Rising Soph Girl's knowledge, Theta hasn't given any snap bids any of the years since I joined. You can still definitely reach out to your friends I just want to be honest with you and let you know chances are slim. Best tactic is to just wait for spring recruitment
