As winter break is coming to an end, spring recruitment season is quickly approaching. This may be apparent due to the excessive sorority related information that is currently overflowing your Facebook newsfeed. It may be statuses encouraging potential new members to come out to interest sessions or photos sharing information for an upcoming philanthropy event. Just about every sorority girl has a cover photo to promote her sorority
leading up to recruitment. Many of these cover photos are group photos of girls “throwing what they know” or pictures of pretty flowers or foliage that include text of the sorority’s name, motto, or creative wording that incorporates the sorority’s Greek letters. Over the past few months, I’ve come across a handful of creative cover photos that promote sororities through popular culture. Here are my top 10:

1. You Won’t Be Sorry if You Join DPhiE

This photo originally pictured Justin Bieber holding a sign saying “Sorry”—the title of his newest hit song that he wants you to purchase. Now Justin wants you to rush Delta Phi Epsilon. Here’s the link to the song

2. Xoxo, Gamma Phi Beta
One of the most famous quotes from the TV series Gossip Girl is used in a creative way to promote Gamma Phi Beta. When Chuck Bass tries to stop Blair Waldorf from leaving with her new boyfriend, Blair tells him that the only way she will stay is if he says “three words, eight letters” (I love you). Despite Chucks’ strong desire to have Blair stay, he is unable to get past the letter “I”—such a typical boy.

3. “You won’t regret it, no no” Here is a photo-shopped picture of two famous rappers from the music video for their song “Otis”. Kanye and Jay-Z clearly aren’t afraid to rep pink and green. The song begins with lyrics “You wont regret it, no, no.” Of course they’re referring to rushing Delta Zeta.

4. Alpha Phi on the Big Screen
This is definitely my favorite cover photo that I have come across. It features Zach Efron and the cast from the movie Neighbors, a film about a family who has to deal with living next to the party-crazy fraternity brothers of Delta Psi Beta. Now the boys are representing Alpha Phi in this creative photo shopped cover photo.

5. The Queen of Everything reps Delta Gamma Queen Beyoncé’s face with the words “Delta Gamma” is enough alone to promote this sorority during recruitment season.

6. Speak no, hear no, and see no evil A classy twist on a universally known image—usually depicted with three monkeys. Speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil—join ZTA.

7. Leo’s Got the “Hots” for KD What’s better than a picture of Leonardo Dicaprio (taken from the movie Wolf of Wall Street) advocating his love of Kappa Delta girls??

8. Who Runs the World? Alpha Chi Omega Are you surprised that Beyoncé made it onto this list again? As I said earlier, she is the Queen of Everything. And she wants you to rush Alpha Chi Omega.

9. I Want YOU for SDT

Justin Bieber’s finger point resembles that of Uncle Sam’s. However, J-Biebs doesn’t want you to enlist in the army, but he does want you to rush SDT.

10. DZ likes turtles Delta Zeta’s mascot is the turtle. So naturally when this video of the “Zombie kid that loves turtles” went crazy-viral, Delta Zeta sisters made a comical cover photo to promote their sorority.
