Report a School Review

If deemed necessary, reported reviews will be removed within 7 - 10 days but usually sooner. Please submit this report ONLY if you STRONGLY believe this needs to be removed. Multiple illegitimate reports slow down the administrative process of removing the actual and more seriously unfavorable content.

I've been at CMU for four years and in that time I've seen many changes in the Greek system and overall party atmosphere in general. No, CMU Greek life is not the same as it is at Michigan State or U of M. Those are Big 10 schools. With that being said, CMU has the largest Greek life besides State and U of M. CMU has gone from a party school to not. As a freshman, you could walk up and down Main on weekends and every other house would be having an open party. Now, you walk up and down Main on welcome weekend and it looks like nothing's happening...You just have to know where to go cause they're underground. Frats come and go, popular or not. They all got strict enough so if you don't meet the rules you will be kicked off. Some frats are willing to risk that more than others, you can decide if it's worth it. Sororities here are different, you could be in the top sorority but still have best friends in the lowest. While a few try to pit "top and bottom houses" against each other, most girls in sororities couldn't care less about what chapter someone's in and it shows. Go with what makes you happy, because ultimately CMU Greek Life is a community, and that's something the Big 10 schools don't have.
