DG legacy

Last year I was going through rush as a triple DG legacy. My mom spoke to their nationals and was told that all legacies get a courtesy invite back to the second round and if they pref you, they have to bid you. Well..... Guess who was cut after the first round? Yup, I was. My mom received a phone call from some girl in the sorority at 9:00 pm, on the second round of parties, after I already knew. (She actually received a phone message, but whatever). At ole miss, there are no guarantees. Also, we were told last year that if we preffed at least one house, we were guaranteed a bid. Don't know if that is true, and I have no idea if anyone was dropped after pref, but I didn't hear about it if it did. Btw- I did receive a bid to my first choice and favorite house, so all was not lost when I was cut from my legacy house.
