I wouldn't worry too much about her. If the Mississippi/Memphis top tiers are easily influenced by mean girl tactics, you (and every other sensible person) are better off going toward the more diverse middle or lower tier sororities. The tiers are shifting anyway. There will always be sororities that the Mississippi girls are fighting it out for, however as out of state students become more established on campus those sororities that have tended to be OOS sororities will start to parallel a different tier structure. There are already a couple of sororities that have some Texas connections, so your roommate from hell could end up in one of those and you could go toward one of the more diverse OOS sororities (where you will probably be happier). Ignore your roommate and go in with an open mind.
