I would do it, if you don't love it you don't have to join and going isn't an automatic bid. It is something new and fun to do. I would email them quick though to RSVP. Even if it doesn't workout you may make knew friends you have nothing to lose and at most a great sisterhood to gain. That can be said of any house doing informal.
