Don't take out loan if you don't have to!!! I have about $11K in loans (grad school) and it's rough paying them back. If you want to join a sorority, find a way to pay for it other than loans! I had many sisters who worked during the year, or a lot in summer to cover the costs. Also apply for any scholarship you can. My undergrad scholarships covered my dues after it paid for classes and books! Tips: - First year in a sorority is always the most expensive, keep that in mind. - Don't order every frat shirt or event shirt you see. Pick and choose, it will add up. - Living in house can save you money. - Eat all your meals you can at the house. Most require you pay for them all, a few have exceptions though. It's easy and cheaper than cooking all the options for yourself. - Big-Lil can be done very well for cheap (lots of people over spend when they get a little). Set a budget and stick to it! - Live with roommates and really search around. A lot of rental homes can be cheaper than apartments. I know someone who had a room in a 3/2 house for $250/mo plus utilities and got a huge yard instead of none. That's all I can think of for now!
